Peg Doll - DIY

Updated: Jun 19, 2019

I have always been interested in peg dolls and always wanted a set of Grimm's Rainbow Friends but just couldn’t justify spending the money on something I wasn’t sure my littles were going to play with. So I bought these little peg dolls from amazon for about half the price to see if there would be any interest in them. I painted them pretty simple and let them dry over night. I definitely should have put a coat or two of Mod Podge but I was impatient and wanted to see how the littles would like them.

This morning I set them on the table with some little wood disks and just waited for them to find them. It didn‘t take long before E found the peg dolls and as soon as J saw E playing she wanted too to. They immediately were attracted to the littlest ones, and picked them out from the rest. I watched as they lined them up, knocked them over, tried to find all the similar colours and even placed them in random

orders. They really loved these little peg dolls ( so did I ) , and we spent most of our morning playing with them.

When my older girls got home ( 8 & 5 ) they too were excited to play with them and quickly grabbed the ones they wanted. I also at this time added wooden rings to see how my older girls would incorporate them into their play. Well as soon as I set them on the table my 5 year old quickly grabbed two and stacked them, “ Look now my family has a pool in their house!” - A. My 8 year old loved that idea and quickly grabbed two for her “house”. It was so much fun for me to watch my girls play and I’m tempted to spend the money on some of those Grimm’s Rainbow Friends now. Though I’ll wait and see how long they stay interested in these little guys first.
